Inhambane

Located on the east coast of Mozambique in southern Africa, the Inhambane province includes popular beach areas such as Tofo Beach (Praia do Tofo) and a number of small outlying islands. The capital of the province, known by the same name, Inhambane, is one of the oldest settlements on the coast of Mozambique going right back to the 11th century.

Besides being a sun, surf and beach travel destination, Inhambane has become best known for its interesting colonial buildings including the cathedral which is at least 170 years old.The local market is fun to visit and features local handicrafts, locally grown produce and other food products that travellers and locals need.

Inhambane has a small airport which offers flights from Maputo and Johannesburg. Local transportation in Inhambane area is offered by local minibuses called chapas or by taxis.
