Summer in the Lowveld area of South Africa where Kapama lies, is from October to March. Summer daytime temperatures can vary from extreme highs of up to 42°C to unusual lows of 20°C.
Summer is also when most rain falls in this area. Rainfall generally takes the form of dramatic thunderstorms, which last just for an hour or so, after which the weather clears up again.
The colder winter months of May, June and July experience mild day time temperatures of around 26°C and average night-time lows of about 8°C.
Casual, comfortable clothing in neutral shades are best. Shorts, T-shirts and light shorts with a fleece jacket for the cooler evening hours for summer.
Winter nights and early mornings are cool to cold and will require a warm jacket, beanie, gloves and scarf. Multiple light layers for winter that can be removed as the day gets hotter are recommended.
In additional take along a comfortable pair of walking shoes, sun hat glasses and sunblock to protect against the harsh African sun and a costume during the summer months.
All the lodges at Kapama have wi-fi spots should you wish to bring along your tablet or laptop. In addition there is a dedicated guest computer available.
All Kapama’s lodge rooms are supplied soap, shampoo and body lotion.
Electricity at Kapama is a 220-volt alternating current system. Wall plug units take a round two-prong European plug. We recommend you bring the necessary converter or adapter from your home country, should you need to charge cameras or laptops. Alternatively, international adaptors are available for purchase at the lodge.
