The lodge is going to be ready for guests around April/May 2009 (opening dates to be confirmed), there will be a total 48 beds on offer and having had a look around the Vilankulos area, I can honestly say it is going to be a winner. On top of the first rate accommodation and restaurant facilities, there will be many activities on offer from scuba diving the many stunning reefs to fishing (conventional and fly) for game fish that are prolific in the area. The sea is calm, warm and blue, that wonderful turquoise blue that just invites you to just get in there and take a dip! Instead of the pounding surf that we South Africans are used to on our coast, this coast line is protected and very safe.
The lodge is built on a gentle hill overlooking the main sweeping beach and islands of Bazaruto, Benguerrra and Magaruque, there is an easy walk down from the chalets to the main lodge area and beyond to the magnificent pool which is literally on the beach. Clients will be able to relax under individual beach huts while being served ice cold drinks and lunches.
A full restaurant and pub will be open to serve those seafood and Portuguese delights that Mozambique is so well known for!
Vilankoulos Beach Lodge will have a variety of boats on offer from a two cabin 42foot catamaran, plus a fleet of fishing and diving boats, guests will be also be able to enjoy kayaking, para-sailing, horse and camel rides, never a dull moment!
