THE HIDE                                                                                                                           Classic safari camp in Hwange National Park
The Hide is a luxury tented camp within Hwange National Park. The camp is situated at the edge of a vlei in a thicket of Acacia trees, where 50 metres in front of the tents is Africa’s most active waterhole. 24 hours Bush Action TV! This is the real thing - up to 500 elephant can be seen to drink everyday in the dry season.

  ACCOMMODATION & FACIILITIES     GAME ACTIVITIES

The main building is a large ‘A’ frame thatch housing the 22 seater solid teak dining room table, bar and lounge. A second much larger comfortable lounge, as well as good library and viewing sun deck, is located upstairs.

The camp can accommodate up to 20 people in 10 massive East African style tents set under thatch. Each tent is decorated in classically beautiful safari style. The en suite bathrooms are separated from the main bedroom by means of a decorated floor to roof wall. The lockable bathroom door ensures total privacy if needed. All tents are furnished with teak furniture and include chairs and tables on the large front porches where one can sit and watch the happenings at the waterhole.

The tents furthest away from the main area  are the  honeymoon suites, which in addition to the normal en suite bathrooms, also have another very private outside bath from where guests can sip chilled champagne while 'game viewing' from the comfort of their bath.

Bathrooms with hot and cold tapped water, flush toilets
- 220 volt electricity with multi plus points
- The lodge is able to accommodate physically challenged guests as the camp is on one level.
- A four seater underground hide is positioned a few metres from the edge of a waterhole.

Game drives are undertaken in 5 fully equipped game drive vehicles with hoods and open sides. Where possible the lodge will try to give every group/ couple etc a vehicle and guide of their own. Special interest groups are also kept separate e.g. birders and game viewers. There is no additional cost for this.

The Doves Nest: 2 km north of camp the lodge has a game viewing platform sturdily built 5 metres from the ground in the branches of a leadwood tree, which overlooks a beautiful plain. Below this deck a snug honeymoon suite with double bed, battery lighting, fully insect proof windows and a lockable door.

Note this is an activity offered to suitable guests and cannot be confirmed in advance. After a good safety briefing guests are left with a two way radio and a candle lit dinner where they can sit in safety and enjoy a glass of bubbly. This is an experience of a lifetime for which there is no additional cost.
