South Luangwa is best known as a walking safari destination and is one of the best walking destination in Africa, but guests can do as little or as much walking as
they desire to. As the camp is in a private concession the camp offers after dark safari drives as well as day time game drives.
Wildife concentrates around the Luangwa River especially during the dry winter months when there is no rainfall and game relies on the river as a water scource and do not stray too far.
Sightings of leopard in the park are legendary but guests may also encounter lion, wild dogs and hyena. A variety of plains game ranging from the humble impala to the more exotic roan and sable can be seen.
Uniquely South Luangwa are the Thornicroft's giraffe and Cookson's wildebeest which are endemic to the area and occur nowhere else in the world.
