The Island of Inhaca lies off the coast of Maputo, the capital city. Pestana Inhaca is a mere 10 minutes by plane making this the closest tropical island to Johannesburg.

The resort has a total of 40 rooms (20 standard & 20 family rooms), divided into doubles or twin bedded.

The rooms are set amongst magnificent coconut palms and exotic gardens.

All the rooms have DSTV television, tea & coffee making facilities, mosquito nets and en-suite bathroom with shower and air conditioning.

 

 

The resort has one main restaurant indoors, but meals and beverages are also served outside on the terrace in front of the pool or next to the pool.

The GONE FISHIN' activity centre offers a variety of water sports including scuba diving fishing excursions and sunset cruises.

 

Not at the resort but in the nearby village is the famous Lucas restaurant. Owned by a local (Lucas) this beach eatery  serves the catch of the day and local beer and should be on the must do list of every visitor to the island.

Inhaca Pestana is the perfect quick inexpensive weekend getaway from Joburg. This is not an exotic island destination like Bazaruto Island, but an African island destination.
The difference? Well its not all perfect beaches and sublime sunsets. BUT it is fun, comfortable, relaxing and completely fits the bill when you need an affordable beach getaway and want to do something different.
